PURPOSE:To speed up the directory search and processing speed of a member with high access frequency by registering directory information with high access frequency in a directory entry list. CONSTITUTION:A directory entry list (DEL) with fixed length is formed in a system file group 2 of a main storage and the positional information (directory information) of a member once referred is stored in the DEL. Thereafter, access to the same member is executed by detecting the position of the member on the DEL. A learning mechanism controls the rewriting (updating) of the reference frequency of the directory, and when the stored quantity of the DEL exceeds the threshold, directory information related to a member with the lowest latest reference frequency is deleted from the DEL. Thus, the formation of the DEL makes it possible to speed up the directory search of a member with high access frequency and processing speed. |
