PURPOSE:To shorten the execution time of an instruction having the small number of turning a mask on by recognizing the number to turn the mask on in a vector processor. CONSTITUTION:When mask information indicating whether a conditional instruction is to be executed or not to respective elements and the number of turning the mask on in each vector length are set up in a mask register 28 at the execution of the instruction, the vector processor checks the number to turn the mask on. The execution of the instruction is skipped under a condition that the number to turn the mask on is ''0''. Under a condition that the number to turn the mask on is smaller than a prescribed threshold, a part turning the mask on is fetched by using a vector length reduction processing instruction, new vector data are formed to calculate the vectors and the calculated result is inputted to the part turning the mask on. Under a condition that the number of turning the mask on is larger than he prescribed threshold, the factor turning the mask on is calculated. |
