The peat is removed when it is not frozen and transported to a mill where it is ground to form a sludge. This passes to a storage basin from which it can be taken all the year round. - A storage basin is formed in a bog. A barge floats on its surface. This carries a scoop loader and a mill. The scoop removes peat from the bog and transfers it to the mill. The ground material is then discharged to the storage basin. The resulting sludge can subsequently be pumped from the basin.
