PURPOSE:To use stably the titled electrode in a high temp. and high pressure aqueous solution by mixing a fine powder of a difficultly soluble salt or oxide into an electrolytic solution when forming the difficultly soluble salt or oxide of the same metal as a metal rod of a reference electrode to a metal rod by the electrolytic treatment. CONSTITUTION:In the reference electrode containing an electrolyte 12 while inserting a reaction electrode part 11 at the top end part of the metal rod 7 in a vessel main body 3 of a vessel 1 providing a liquid junction part 2 at the under part, the reference electrode is formed by precipitating AgCl or AgO at the part 11, in case of e.g. using Ag to the metal rod. At this time, average 1mu powder of AgCl or AgO is previously dispersed uniformly in the electrolytic solution, and coprecipitated on a rod 7 together with AgCl formed by the electrolysis. Thereby, since the porous and thick electrode 11 is formed as the reference electrode for use in high temp. and high pressure aqueous solution, the exfoliation, etc. of the electrode 11 are not caused, and the electrode of rapid responding speed, high reliability and long service life is obtained due to the wide reaction area. |
