PURPOSE:To prepare a novel copolymer having a nearly monodisperse uniform composition, by reacting a specific living polymer with a polymer obtained by halogenating the terminal of a living polypropylene prepared by a specific process. CONSTITUTION:Propylene is polymerized in the presence of a beta-diketone vanadium chelate of formula I (R<2> and R<3> are alkyl or aryl) and an Al compound of formula R<4>2AlX (R<4> is 1-8C alkyl or aryl; X is halogen) to obtain a living polypropylene, which is made to contact with a halogen to provide the halogenated polypropylene of formula II (x>=2). The objective novel copolymer having the recurring unit bonds of formula V and formula VI can be prepared by reacting the halogenated polypropylene with a living polymer of formula IV (y>=2) prepared by polymerizing a vinyl monomer of formula III (R is H or 1-6C alkyl; R<1> is 1-6C alkyl or alkoxy; n is 0-5) in the presence of a anionic polymerization initiator of formula MR<5> (M is IA-group element; R<5> is organic group).
