PURPOSE:To have tank transfer without use of any crane etc. by placing a used and a new hull in a dock in such a way that their openings provided at the sides mate with each other, and by guiding the tank floated by pouring water in the dock to the half level using a rail installed on the back face of the deck of each hull. CONSTITUTION:An old hull 1 of an LNG carrier ship and a new constructed hull 2 are closely placed in a dock 3 in parallel with each other in the direction fore and aft. The two hulls 1, 2 are provided with an opening 1a, 2a at their side parts mating with each other, and rails 7 are furnished at the back surface of each deck 1b, 2b of hulls 1, 2. Water is poured into the dock 3 to the half level so as to float the tank 6 accommodated in the old hull 1, which tank shall then be transferred along the rail 7 to the new hull 2 and fixed there. According to this arrangement, tank transfer can be made simply in the hull replacement work of an LNG carrier ship without requiring use of any large-sized crane or the like.
