Device for adjusting the rate of response of a room thermostat to temperature variations. In the device, the thermistor 11 of the thermostat is mounted in a heat-conducting support 7, 8 mounted on the casing of the thermostat. The thermistor 11 is outside the walls of the casing. The support 7, 8 is a means 7 sliding in a wall 5 of the casing for adjusting the distance between the thermistor 11 and the adjoining wall 5 of the casing. The support is a metal tube 7 closed at its end 8 situated outside the casing. The thermistor 11 is placed in immediate proximity to the closed end. The wall 5 of the casing through which the tube 7 passes includes, towards the inside of the casing, a sleeve 6 in which the tube 7 can slide with a relatively sizeable coefficient of friction. <IMAGE>
