The invention relates to a method for measuring an optical receiver, arranged on a moving body, by means of a laser transmitter which can be erected at freely selectable locations, which transmits two closely adjacent laser light curtains which are associated with a fixed modulation frequency and modulation frequency dependent on the angle of direction, and a defined polarisation state, and devices for measuring the receiving time, the distance from the transmitter, the instantaneous roll, pitch and yaw attitude and the angle of direction being arranged in the receiver in a central evaluating unit with reference oscillator and phase detector. By these means, however, all values of interest on attitude, orientation and speed of a moving body at a time with respect to the crossing of a control area generated by a laser transmitter at rest can be determined.
