PURPOSE:To carry out the thawing of a frozen food with a small amount of water, in high efficiency, in a short time, by stacking containers containing the food to be thawed in a water tank, spraying the food with hot water shower to effect the thawing, and recycling and reusing the used thawing water. CONSTITUTION:The frozen food to be thawed, e.g. frozen fish, etc. is placed on a perforated table in the container 28, and the containers are stacked in a water tank 2 using a truck 35. The pump 20 is operated to suck the thawing water stored in the suction chamber 8, and the water is heated at a specific temperature, supplied through the feed pipe 24 to the shower plate 13, sprayed through the small holes of the plate 13 in the form of shower, and allowed to flow down through the perforations of the table to thaw the foods in the containers 28 successively. The used water is recovered in the storage chamber 3, filtered with the mesh plates 7 and 9 to remove the filthy materials and circulated to the suction chamber 8.
