An explosion-proof electro-acoustic transducer in which all the electrical components (12) and the transducer element (12a) which converts the mechanical vibrations into electric oscillations or the electric oscillations into mechanical vibrations are disposed within a pressure-resistant housing (11), and the converting transducer element (12a) is connected to a sound-absorbing or sound-radiating diaphragm (14) in the outer space of the housing (11), via a rod (13) which is fed through a bore (11a) in the wall of the pressure-resistant housing (11). The gap width (S) between the inner wall of the bore (11a) and the rod surface (13) is dimensioned according to the length of the gap and in the spatial volume of the pressure-resistant housing (11) in such a way that the gap is flameproof. <IMAGE>
