PURPOSE:To prevent a ribbon from being inappropriately fed, by a method wherein a ribbon guide is provided as close as possible to a thermal head, and it can be appropriately spaced from the head. CONSTITUTION:Ribbon guide rollers 36, 36a and auxiliary rollers 36b, 36c are fitted through fixed shafts 95 to movable arms 94, 94 which can be moved horizontallly in transverse direction on the top surface of a carriage block 76 with pivotally fitting members 93 (such as small screws) as respective centers. The fixed shafts 95 are erected at predetermined positions of the movable arms 94, and each thereof is provided at its upper end with a groove 97 into which a ring member 96 can be fitted. Paper guides 98, 98a fitted to the arms 94 prevent a paper 19 set on a platen 16 from making contact with a side part of the thermal head 26 at the time of reciprocating motion of the carriage E. Ribbon guides are provided as close as possible to the head 26, whereby the thermal printing ribbon led from a ribbon cassette toward the head 26 on the carriage E can be so guided that the ribbon span between the ribbon guide on the leading end side and the head 26 can be set to be very short. Accordingly, sagging of the ribbon existing at such part can be remarkably prevented from occurring. |
