PURPOSE:To scoop up a paper at the time of returning a carriage and prevent the paper from being staggered through hooking or damaged, by providing a chamfered paper guide at a position lower than the center of a platen. CONSTITUTION:A paper wound around a platen 16 is guided by a pair of paper guides 46, 47 so that it is not caught by a thermal printing ribbon 35. The paper guides 46, 47 are bent to form guide pieces 46a, 47a. The paper guide 47 is provided at a level below the center of the platen 6, and an end face of the guide piece 47a on th thermal head 26 side is chamfered in an arcuate form. After printing in a line rightward, the paper guide 47 on the right side comes to a position beyond a side edge of the paper 19, and when the carriage E is returned to an original position on the left side, the guide piece 47a is moved while scooping up the paper 19 along the chamfer. Accordingly, in reciprocating the carriage E, the paper can be guided upward along the platen 16 without being caught. |
