Appliance for generating steam for domestic use, which is equipped with, in addition to a heating vessel provided with an electrical resistor for the heating and evaporation of water, also a water tank separate from the heating vessel and a pump connected between the tank and heating vessel. The pump is switched on by a minimum water-level signal transmitter in the heating vessel and is switched off by a maximum steam-pressure signal transmitter in the heating vessel.
