In an air humidifier, the housing of which has a fan and an evaporation body onto which the fan blows, and also receives in the lower part of the housing a water supply for the evaporation body, the evaporation body (11) is carried, upright, by at least one floating body (9) which lies freely on the supply water (2) and permanently dips with a section of small height into the supply water (2), while the remainder of the evaporation body (9) can be wetted hygroscopically, for reliable pumpless wetting of the evaporation body. <IMAGE>
