Attenuator discs, e.g. neutral density filters, sloping at 0.5 to 5 degrees relative to the optical axis are mounted in the beam path, aligned to be parallel, in the path of a transmission link having optical waveguides. The slope removes disturbing reflections from disc surfaces. In a development, electrooptical transducers are connected directly to the gradient-index rod lenses used to effect the parallel alignment.
