PURPOSE:To obtain a substance for promoting multiplication of a bacterium belonging to the genus Bifidobacterium useful as a healthy agent, by adding milk of lime to waste liquor prepared in a production process of soybean protein to alkalize it, heating it to give precipitate, eliminating the precipitate. CONSTITUTION:Soybeans are extracted with water to give soybean milk, to which phosphoric acid is added, protein is coagulated and separated. The waste liquor from which protein is removed is used as a raw material, milk of lime is added to it until the pH becomes 7-10. The waste liquor is heated at 80- 100 deg.C, and the formed precipitate is eliminated, to give the desired substance for promoting multiplication of a bacterium belonging to the genus Bifiobacterium. If necessary, the waste liquor is readjusted to pH of neutrality or weak acidity and can be used. It is further concentrated and dried, and can be used as the substance for promoting multiplication. Or, it is further brought into contact with active carbon, etc., unnecessary components are adsorbed, and can be purified by ion exchange resin treatment, dialysis, etc. |
