The brush has a core (1), about whose longitudinal axis are arranged the bristles (10). In order to be able to clean polygonal containers having small corner radii with said brush, provision is made for the core (1) to have means (6) in order to attach it axially to a shaft (24). On said core (1) there are two to six surface strips (9) which are parallel to the shaft (24) and are fitted with bristles (10). The surface strips (9) are distributed at least in rough approximation symmetrically around the shaft (24), and the distance between them is at least equal to their width. The free ends of the bristles (10) inserted in the same surface strip (9) have in their radial extension the same spacing from the brush axis (14), the spacing of the bristle ends of one surface strip (9), however, differing by at least 50 mm from the spacing of the bristle ends of another surface strip (9). <IMAGE>
