The small electrical machine (2) is constructed as a small motor and has a magnetic framework (3) which consists of steel and has permanent-magnet poles, a rotatable rotor (6), and at least one bearing plate (16), which is cast from a low-cost material having a deformation strength which is low in comparison with the steel of the magnetic framework. An intermediate piece (18) which is stamped from steel plate is inserted between the magnetic framework and the bearing plate. This intermediate piece is of annular design and has radially projecting attachment flaps (28) which rest in recesses arranged on the magnetic framework (3) and are wedged to said framework by the fitment of notches (31) on the magnetic framework. Before the bearing plate is cast, the intermediate piece is inserted into a pressure casting mould and is then partially coated by casting. The intermediate piece distributes forces which act in a locally highly constrained manner on the wedged connections between the magnetic framework and the intermediate piece over a large area on the bearing plate. In consequence, only small compression stresses occur on the bearing plate (16) where it touches the intermediate piece, which stresses cause no damage.
