PURPOSE:The titled gel having improved activity and long duration period, obtained by dispersing a very small amount of a mold into gel, forming a colony of microorganism. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism is dispsered into in such a way that concentration of the microorganism in the gel in immobilization is 10<2>-10<5>/ml, and immobilized. For example, 0.005ml (or 0.5ml solution diluted 100times) of seed culture solution (yeast concentration: about 5X10<8> yeasts/ml) is blended with 100ml 1-3wt% sodium alginate solution, the prepared mixed dispersion is dropped to 2wt% calcium chloride solution, so that gel (carrier) having about 2.5X10<4> yeast per ml carrier can be obtained. The gel preferably contains further a nutrition demanding substance (e.g., sterol, unsaturated fatty acid, yeast extract). Although the gel of immobilized microorganism is slightly slow in activation, activation in steady time after that is increased by about 20-50% than an existing product.
