METHOD FOR PROCESSING ROLLING ROLL

PURPOSE:To perform highly accurately and efficiently profile-processing in in- line by melt cutting a roll into a target profile with the aid of a laser beam basing on a wearing shape of the roll predicted from the rolling information relating to the roll in rolling or after rolling. CONSTITUTION:A wearing profile of a rolling roll R to be processed is predicted by a rolling process computer 11, and the results are stored in the memory of a microcomputer 10. Next, the roll R is processed basing on the information relating to the roll profile obtained in such a way while rotating the roll R and moving a laser-beam head 2 along a guide 5. That is, the positions necessary for melt cutting and their quantities are obtained basing on the processing conditions necessary for obtaining a prescribed roll profile from the stored information. And instructions are given from the computer 10 to a driving device 6 of the head 2 and a laser generator 7 in accordance with the necessary processing conditions obtained previously from the computer 10, to control the feeding speed of the head 2 and the intensity of the laser so as to form the roll R into a desired roll profile.
