Method for providing decoys and/or concealment bodies for the purpose of simulating a target signature of a water craft, the decoys and/or concealment bodies being disposed in the surroundings of the water craft that is to be protected against homing missiles, in particular against antishipping missiles. Use is made of an underwater craft by means of which the concealment bodies and/or decoys are brought into a prescribed position which simulates a target signature. The decoys and/or concealment bodies can be brought into position without self destruction of the underwater craft. The underwater craft can be recovered or sunk by flooding after demolition of the provision process.
