PURPOSE:To enable a favorable property of contact with a thermal recording medium to be maintained, by providing heating resistor elements of a narrow face of a prismatic substrate. CONSTITUTION:The heating resistor elements are disposed at arbitrary positions on a heat-insulating layer 2, whereby the substrate of the head can made contact with the recording paper 10 either perpendicularly (a) or at an acute angle (b), (c). Because of the high degree of freedom of the angle formed between an ink ribbon 8 and the recording paper 10 in the vicinity of the contact part of the heating part, the ribbon 8 and the paper 10, the ink used in the ink ribbon 8 can be provided with a mechanical strain by controlling the angle according to the ink properties such as the cohesive force and the adhesion to a base. Therefore, the ink can be easily released from the base, and accordingly, transfer free of voids can be achieved even where the paper 10 has poor smoothness or the contact of the ink is slight. |
