<p>Triazolo [4, 3-a] [1, 4] benzodiazepines which are unsubstituted at the 1-position, e.g. estazolam, are converted to 1-(hydroxymethyl) triazolobenzodiazepines by reaction with paraformaldehyde, in a solvent. If desired, the product is reacted with a solfonyl halide and then with an amine or ammonia to form a 1-(amino-methyl) benzodiazepine such as adinazolam. </p> |
