<p>A tubular object of polyethylene terephthalate is produced from a blank of amorphous material by reducing the thickness of and orienting the material of the blank in one or several areas. A mechanical shaping device (23, 71, 81) moves a transitional zone (13, 14, 113) situated between thicker and thinner material along the blank and simultaneously elongates and orients the blank in the axial direction.
