PURPOSE:To extract a loop basing on the magnitude of label number, simplify constitution of the system and speed up processing by scanning binary coded graphic pattern in an observation window and determining label of each store position according to logical combination of the observation window. CONSTITUTION:White area and black area are stored as binary coded data in the picture memory 1 of a loop extraction processing system of graphic pattern, and the stored content is scanned by an observation window having plural observing positions A-D. Address of the memory 1 is designated by address registers 2, 3 and watched observation position is stored in a temporary memory circuit 5. Logical combination of this observation position is judged by a judging matrix memory 6, and label is added to observation position C in a label adding circuit 7. In the case where observation positions A-C are predetermined other logical combination, numbr of a label number storing circuit 9 is compared with number of given logical combination in an area judging circuit 8, and the loop is extracted in a loop judging circuit 10 according to the magnitude of the number.
