PURPOSE:To display with uniform lightness by expanding the picture element width of the character signal so as to be suited to an NTSC signal, and changing a signal level of a corresponding picture element based on the arranging state of a specific picture element string extracted from said expanded signal. CONSTITUTION:The picture element width of the character signal outputted from a personal computer, e.g., RS signal is expanded by passing the RS signal through a delay circuit 11. Then, the expanded character signal is inputted sequentially to a shift register 12 to output a 5-bit picture element string to a discriminating circuit 13. The circuit 13 discriminates the arranging state of the picture element of 1- level of each picture element string and outputs the result. That is, a picture element string having one or plural picture elements is extracted at least one of before and after the corresponding picture element at each picture element and the arranging state of the picture element having the specific signal level in each picture element constituting this picture element train is discriminated. A signal level changing circuit 15 changes the signal level of the corresponding picture element and controls an output transistor TR. |
