PURPOSE:To obtain a recording material excellent in an ink-absorbing property and capable of being easily made to be transparent, by a method wherein an ink-absorbing layer provided on a transparent base can be made to be transparent by a heating treatment, in a recording material for use in an ink jet recording. CONSTITUTION:A coated layer of a thermoplastic resin containing a dispersant is provided on the transparent base consising of a film of a plastic such as a polyester or a diacetate or a glass plate, and the dispersant in the layer is removed by eluation with a solvent, or a binder and a thermoplastic resin powder are applied onto the base, or other similar process is executed to provide the ink-absorbing layer having a porous structure. In this case, the dispersant used in the former method and the thermoplastic resin powder used in the latter method have a particle size of 0.1-100mum. Further, a thermoplastic resin having a property of being melted by a heat treatment at 70-200 deg.C for about 0.5- 30min to become uniform and transparent through disintegration of the porous structure, e.g., an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer or an acrylic polymer is used. |
