PURPOSE:To use an exposed negative plate to react oxygen gas generated from a positive plate and suppress evolution of hydrogen gas by forming a liquid type lead-acid battery by using a plate group in which a part of a negative plate is exposed from electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:A plate group comprising a positive plate 11, a negative plate 10 whose upper part is exposed from a liquid level 14 of electrolyte 13, and a separator 12 is accommodated into a container 1, and a safety valve 3 is installed in a cover 2 to form a sealed type lead-acid battery. Height of exposed part from electrolyte of the negative plate is controlled by the amount of negative active material which can react oxygen gas generated according to current depending on overcharge condition in actual use. The exposed part is used to react oxygen gas evolved from a positive plate to suppress hydrogen evolution. Thereby, production is made easy and life in deep discharge is increased. |
