PURPOSE:To increase productivity and keep the effective amount of active material by impregnating cadmium nitrate in porous nickel sinter and immersing it in solvent having lower boiling point than water and compatibility with water to convert cadmium nitrate into active material. CONSTITUTION:Porous nickel sinter is immersed in cadmium nitrate solution having a specific gravity of 2.0 and pH of 4.0 for 5min, then immersed in ethyl alcohol at 30 deg.C for 30sec, and dried by hot air of 60 deg.C. Then this sinter is immersed in 20% sodium hydroxide solution at 30 deg.C for 30min and washed to removed alkali. This process is repeated several times to prepare a cadmium plate for an alkaline storage battery. By removing water contained in cadmium nitrate, fluidity of cadmium nitrate is prevented and deposition of active material is made uniform. Loading in impregnation process is decreased and the effective amount of active material is maintained. |
