PURPOSE:To prevent generation of syneresis and improve performance by using granules obtained by granulating lead powder, silicic anhydride fine powder, and dilute sulfuric acid as positive active material in a clad type lead-acid battery using gel electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:8wt% silica powder is added to 1kg of lead powder with an oxidation degree of 70% and 100ml of dilute sulfuric acid with sp.gr. 1.20 is poured to them. They are granulated with a granulating machine to form granules. The granules obtained is filled in a tube to form a clad type plate. Gel type electrolyte comprising dilute sulfuric acid with sp.gr. 1.28 containing 10wt% silicic anhydride is used to form a clad type lead-acid battery. Silica powder penetrates pores of granules and only dilute sulfuric acid is absorbed pores of granules due to previously existed silica powder. Therefore, generation of synerasis prevented and battery performance is improved. |
