PURPOSE:To improve erasing efficiency and to record a superior recording signal by arranging a pair of erasing main magnetic poles so as to erase both the ends of the recording width of a recording/reproducing main magnetic pole at a position separated from said main magnetic pole by a prescribed distance and forming a means for exciting the pair of main magnetic poles in the reverse directions to each other. CONSTITUTION:Exciting windings 21a, 21b are wound around tunnel erasing main magnetic poles 18a, 18b in a vertical recording single magnetic pole type composite magnetic head so that respective magnetized directions are reversed to each other. The magnetic flux from one tunnel erasing main magnetic pole 18b passes through a high- mu layer 11b and enters the other tunnel erasing main magnetic pole 18a, so that leaked magnetic flux is reduced, efficient magnetic erasing is attained and the influence of the leaked magnetic flux to the recording/reproducing main magnetic flux 10 is reduced to attain the recording of a superior recording signal. The direction of the leaked magnetic flux is the width direction of the recording track of the recording/reproducing main magnetic pole 10 and is intersected with the direction of the magnetic flux of the recording/reproducing main magnetic pole 10 at right angles, so that the influence of the magnetic flux can be reduced moreover. |
