PURPOSE:To obtain a sliding contact material utilizing oxides produced during sliding as a lubricant and having improved wear resistance and low and stable contact resistance by adding specified amounts of Pd, Ag, Cu and In as essential components to Au. CONSTITUTION:This sliding contact material consists of, by weight, 65-75% Au, 3-8% Pd, 5-15% Ag, 10-18% Cu and 0.1-2% In or further contains 0.5- 10% in total of one or more among Sb, Te, Mo, Pb, Se, As and Zn and 0.01- 0.5% Fe group metal such as Ni. When the contact material is used, the amount of oxides produced during sliding is reduced, and the oxides act as a lubricant to improve the wear resistance. Since the oxides are soft and are easily removed by sliding action, the contact resistance is kept low and stable. |
