PURPOSE:To prevent any disturbance near a base plate and improve the resolution characteristic and the conversion efficiency of an input screen greatly by forming a first layer through vapordeposition at a specified pressure while maintaining the base plate at a specified temperature, then forming a second layer on the first layer at a temperature lower than said temperature and at a pressure higher than said pressure. CONSTITUTION:A first and a second layer 4a and 4b are formed over one surface of a base plate 3 in order to make an input fluorescent screen 4. The above formation is carried out according to the following procedure. While the base plate 3 is maintained at 150-300 deg.C, the first layer 4a is formed on the base plate 3 through vapordeposition at a pressure of below 1X10<-4>Torr. Next, while the thus obtained body is maintained at a temperature not higher than that adopted for the first layer, the second layer 4b is formed on the first layer 4a through vapordeposition at a pressure of over 1X10<-3>Torr. By the means mentioned above, any disturbance of crystals near the base plate 3 can be removed and the resolution characteristic and the conversion efficiency of the input screen can remarkably be improved. |
