PURPOSE:To obtain a color photosensitive material capable of forming sufficient color even when a color formation promoting org. solvent, such as benzyl alcohol, is removed from a color developing soln. or reduced in the content by incorporating a coupler having a specified ballasting group in a photosensitive material contg. a coupler. CONSTITUTION:A silver halide color photosensitive material contains a coupler having a ballasting group represented by formula I , and this coupler is preferably represented by formula II in which X is halogen, alkyl, aryl, heterocyclic, hydroxy, alkoxy, aryloxy, acylamino, sulfonamino, carbamoyl, sulfamoyl, ureido, alkoxycarbonyl, alkoxycarbonylamino, sulfonyl, alkylthio, cyano, nitro, or carboxy; (l) is an integer of 1-4; (m) is 1 or 2; and Cp is a coupler residue.
