PURPOSE:To perform the correction in parallel to the A/D conversion by setting the range of measurement of an A/D converting part to convert the differential data between an analog input signal and the minimum value data into the digital data and then converting the digital data into the corresponding physical quantity. CONSTITUTION:A processor 10 sends the minimum and maximum value data Xa and Xb to a processing part 6 of an A/D converter 1, and the part 6 stores these values to a memory 7. Then the part 6 calculates the difference S between the Xa and Xb and sends it to an A/D converting part 4. Here the range of measurement is set at S. Then the Xa of the memory 7 is sent to a D/A converting part 5 to convert it into the analog data XA. This data XA is supplied to a differential circuit 3. The part 6 produces a command C to the part 4 and converts the differential data DELTAX between the input data Xi and the data XA supplied from the circuit 3 into the digital data. It is decided whether the digital data is within the range of measurement or not. If the digital data is within said range, the part 6 calculates the physical quantity data DELTAY corresponding to DELTAX and sends it to a processor 10. If the digital data is outside the range of measurement, this is informed to the processor 10. Then the processor 10 sets again the range of measurement.
