PURPOSE:To obtain an optical transmission fiber having excellent light transmittability, heat resistance and flexibility by using a methyl methacrylate copolymer and fluoroalkyl methacrylate copolymer which are incorporated respectively with specific methacrylate components, the former as a core component and the latter as a sleeve component. CONSTITUTION:Methacrylates (e.g.; bornyl methacrylate) having a C8 alicyclic hydrocarbon group are incorporated in the ester part. More specifically, the optical, transmission fiber is obtd. by providing (B) a sleeve component consisting of a fluoroalkyl methacrylate copolymer (e.g.; 2,2,2,-trifluoroethyl methacrylate) contg. 3-40wt% said ester component on (A) a core component consisting of a methyl methacrylate copolymer contg. 3-40wt% said ester component. The ratio between the core component and the sleeve component is preferably about 80: 20-95:5 (by weight) and the outside diameter of the optical transmission fiber is preferably about 0.15-1.5mm.. |
