<p>PURPOSE:To remarkably reduced the COD and hue of treated water, in an activated sludge process for treating ammonia liquor, by adding phytic acid or a water-soluble phytinate and an inorganic phosphoric compound with specified ratio to said liquor in an aeration tank and aerating the liquor. CONSTITUTION:Ammonia liquor formed during manufacturing coke has abnormally high COD and exhibits liver brown, so that it is impossible from the standpoint of environmental pollution to drain said ammonia liquor as such as to the public water area. When said ammonia liquor is purified by an activated sludge process, 1-5g phytic acid or a water-soluble phytinate and 3-4g, in terms of phosphorus, an inorganic phosphoric compound per 1m<3> of an aeration tank a day are continuously added in the treatment of the ammonia liquor having 1-3kg/m<3>-day a volume load of COD. Hence, substantially 100% of the inorganic phosphoric compound is effectively utilized without the formation of rupture in the activated sludge process, and the concentration of the inorganic phosphoric compound incorporated in water after being treated with activated sludge can be reduced to a very small amount below 1mg/l.</p> |
