The present invention relates to a programmable apparatus for generating digital sequences for the purpose of testing digital circuits. This apparatus is characterised in that it comprises a microcomputer 1 connected to a keyboard/screen 2, a memory 22 for generating digital sequences or bursts connected to the microcomputer 1, a circuit 19 for calculating the memory address with multiple increments, connected to the generation memory 22 and to a register 23 which is itself linked to the microcomputer 1 for storing the size or length of the burst, output probes 25 linked to the memory 22 and allowing the correct routeing of the bursts to the digital circuit tested and a clock generation assembly 14, 18 connected to the memory address calculating circuit 19. <IMAGE>
