PURPOSE:To make it possible to record a high quality image free from color shift by enhancing the positional accuracy of a recording dot at every color, by a method wherein the recording paper set to a recording position is subjected to useless feed in a definite amount and, after pulled back corresponding to the feed amount thereof, recording is started to eliminate the slackening of the recording paper generating during feed. CONSTITUTION:In a color printer for recording a color image by successively performing recording at every color while repeatedly performing the feed and pull-back of recording paper with respect to a recording head 5, the recording paper 1 set to a recording position is subjected to blind feed in a definite amount and, subsequently, pulled back corresponding to the useless feed thereof to start recording.
