PURPOSE:To provide the titled compsn. which has excellent long-term bath stability and gives a coating film having excellent physical properties such as corrosion resistance, by using a cationic water-dispersible resin contg. a reaction product between a polyepoxide and a specified N-alkyl-alkanolamine. CONSTITUTION:A polyepoxide such as Epikote 104 (a product of Yuka Shell Epoxy K.K.) is reacted with an N-alkylalkanolamine of the formula (wherein R1 is a 6-22C alkyl; R2 is H, a 1-20C alkyl) such as N-hexyl-2-ethanolamine in an inert gas stream at 100-120 deg.C for 5-6hr to obtain a reaction adduct which is then used. A cationic water-dispersible resin (A) such as an epoxy-amine adduct having an amine value of 30-150, 5-40wt% (based on the quantity, on a solid basis, of component A) said reaction adduct (B), a neutralizing agent (C) such as lactic or acetic acid and additives (D) such as crosslinking agent, curing catalyst, pigment or water are blended together to obtain a cationic electrodeposition paint compsn.
