发明名称 PREPARATION OF ANTIOXIDANT
摘要 PURPOSE:To prepare an antioxidant with a high content of antioxidant components, by treating a solution extracted from spices with a non-polar organic solvent, with an aqueous solution of alkali, with an acid and then with a non- polar organic solvent to remove unnecessary ingredients effectively. CONSTITUTION:A spice (e.g. olegano, sapori, thyme, sage or rosemary) is extracted with a polar organic solvent (e.g. ethanol or acetone) and the solvent is removed from the solution of the extract, e.g., by heating to the boiling point of the solvent. An aqueous solution of alkali (e.g. NaOH) and then a non-polar organic solvent (e.g. diethyl ether or hexane) are added to the extract for separation into water and solvent layers. The water layer is taken out and an acid (e.g. sulfuric acid) is added to it. Then the non-polar organic solvent is again added and the resultant solvent layer is washed with water to bring its pH to almost neutral, followed by removal of the solvent, steam distillation and collection of residues to obtain an antioxidant which scarcely has any smell or taste peculiar to spice and exhibits an excellent antioxidant action.
