PURPOSE:To provide a pressure-sensitive copying paper excellent in water resistance, light resistance and color developing speed, wherein a color former layer comprising 2-(chloro-subst. benzylamino)-6-dibutylamino-fluoran compound is provided on a base. CONSTITUTION:The color former layer comprising a 2-(chloro-subst. benzylamino)-6-butylamino-fluoran compound of formula I , preferably 2-(2-chlorobenzylamino)-6-n-dibutylamino-fluoran of formula II or the like, is provided on the base to obtain the objective pressure-sensitive copying paper. The compound of formula I can be produced, e.g., by a method wherein a benzylamino compound of formula III (wherein R is H or lower alkyl) and 2-(2-hydroxy-4-dibutylamino) benzoyl-benzoic acid of formula IV are brought into reaction at 0-80 deg.C in the presence of a condensing agent such as concentrated sulfuric acid, the reaction mixture is added to water, and pH is adjusted to 8-10 by adding an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, thereby precipitating the product. EFFECT:Solubility in solvent is high, and a high developed color density can be obtained. |
