PURPOSE:To control the number of refrigerators only on the base of an added value of the flow rates of a plurality of secondary pumps without the necessity of using a complicated operation process by a method wherein the output flow rates of the secondary pumps are added and the number of refrigerators is controlled on the base of the added value. CONSTITUTION:The output flow rates of the secondary pumps are added according to a command from ''control data'' stored within a part B of a memory A in a calculation system and when the flow rate 1 is derived from ''pump flow rate data'' and ''pump number determining data'' on the base of the added flow rate value, the refrigerator REF2 and a primary pump1-PUMP2 are operated instead of the refrigerator REF1 and a primary pump1-PUMP1. Further, when the flow rate 2 is derived, both of the refrigerator REF2 together with its primary pump1- PUMP2 and the refrigerator REF1 together with its primary pump1-PUMP1 are operated, when flow rate 3 is derived, both of the refrigerator REF3 together with its primary PUMP1-PUMP3 and the refrigerator REF2 together with its primary PUMP1-PUMP2 are operated and when the flow rate 4 is obtained, the refrigerators together with their primary pumps are operated.
