An intermediate coupling for connecting a trailer vehicle, provided with a ring (21), to the ball (17) of a trailer device on a passenger car. The intermediate coupling consists of a conventional ball coupling (2) with a ball socket (16) onto which a clamping lock (9, 26) for attaching the same to the ring (21) of the trailer shaft (8) is fitted. The clamping lock (9, 26) can consist of a nut for clamping tight only the ring (21) or of a swivellable part for clamping tight both the ring (21) and the shaft (8). <IMAGE>
