A false-twist device consists of two discs which are driven in rotation in opposite directions and which clamp the yarn in the region of the entry between their end faces and false-twist it. The yarn quality is improved and the operating range of the false-twist device extended by deflecting the yarn via the edge of a disc at the yarn exit.
