A mechanical coupler (3), which transmits actuation movements between the cradle switch (1) and a key (2) in a switching device in a telephone, is designed as a single plastic unit in the shape of a push rod (4) with rectangular levers (5, 6) hinged at both ends of said rod and aligned at right-angles thereto. The bearings (9, 10) of the rectangular levers are assigned geometrically to the cradle switch or key. The ends (12, 14) of the free lever arms of both rectangular levers are drive-connected to actuation elements (13, 15) of the cradle switch or key. Application: in telephone sets with hands-free dialling keys. <IMAGE>
