The diamond-fitted toothing (2) of the trueing gearwheel (1) serves for profiling an enveloping or enveloping-like grinding worm. A plurality of diamond-fitted parts (4-8) are arranged on the toothing (2) in such a way that, over a maximum of one revolution of the trueing gearwheel (1), their working surfaces limit an enveloping surface (3) which corresponds to the desired shape of the trueing profile. The parts set back relative to the enveloping curve could likewise be diamond-fitted, so that they come into contact with the grinding worm at a high trueing setting, for example during roughing. If contact can no longer occur at all, the set-back parts can also remain uncovered. An interrupted characteristic is thereby achieved, so that the risk of rattling vibrations is reduced considerably. <IMAGE>
