PURPOSE:To provide a medium for the cultivation of animal cells or cells originated from animal cells and having low protein concentration, by using a placenta blood fraction having a molecular weight of 50,000-80,000 as a component. CONSTITUTION:A serum-free base medium for the conventional cultivation of animal cells is added with a fraction of human or cattle placenta blood having a molecular weight of 50,000-80,000 until the ultimate protein concentration reaches 50-300mug/ml. If necessary, the medium is further added with one or more additives selected from milk and/or a milk component and royal jelly and/ or a royal jelly component.
