The invention relates to a lock cylinder for a locking device, having spring-loaded tumbler plates which are arranged in two longitudinal rows lying symmetrically to the longitudinal mid-plane of a cylinder core and which, by means of a key, are displaceable parallel to and independently of one another and engagable into the same associated tumbler channels of a cylinder housing, there being a difference in the engagement widths between the ends of the longitudinal rows of the tumbler plates of an engagement side, of which the tumbler channels are separated from one another by a housing web, and the clear width of the corresponding tumbler channels being matched to the respective engagement widths. According to the invention, the wider tumbler channels are divided by a channel web extending as far as the inner circumference of the cylinder housing, and those ends of the corresponding tumbler plates associated in the key withdrawal position are provided with an oppositely profiled recess, the side faces of the recesses being parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tumbler plates, and the clear width of the recesses being smaller than the width of the housing web of the associated engagement side.
