The steel heating boiler is provided for the combustion of gaseous or liquid fuels. The boiler consists of a water-conducting housing with a pot-like, cylindrical combustion chamber, deflecting chamber on the burner side, and flue gas collecting chamber on the flue side, with at least one heating gas flue arranged on both sides between the deflecting and flue gas collecting chambers, near the combustion chamber. The upper and lower bounding walls (1) of the deflecting chamber, from which the heating gas flues of the upper and lower ends (3) of the heating gas flues (4) go out, are constructed and arranged to extend horizontally or nearly horizontally. The heating gas flues (4) are given a height (5) which corresponds approximately to the diameter of the combustion chamber (6). <IMAGE>
